About

My name is Patrick McKelvey. I was born in St. Louis and raised in South County. After graduating from the Mehlville School District, I attended the University of Missouri where I studied education. While I moved around briefly after graduation, I settled back in Oakville where I have worked as a coach, professor, and non-profit executive. While I always found my full-time work gratifying, I wanted to find a way to give back to a place that gave so much to me. After serving on the Prop S campaign committee, I was elected to the Mehlville School District Board of Education in 2021. During my re-election in 2024, I received the highest share of the popular vote.

I have never taken this support from my community for granted. I would like to think I have earned my victories by sticking to my campaign promises. For example, I promised that I wanted to be a highly visible board member in our community. Going to community events allows me to meet parents where they are, support our students while they do what they love, and connect with our staff. Since I was elected in 2021, I have attended over 500 events at our eleven elementary schools, four middle schools, and two high schools. My favorite things about serving the Mehlville School District are celebrating staff and student achievements, handing out diplomas at graduation, and welcoming inductees into our Alumni Hall of Fame.

While I am extremely proud of my work in the Mehlville School District, I have also been blessed with many other opportunities since I was first elected. I have had the honor of representing the 23,000 students who receive special or alternative education across St. Louis County by serving on the Special School District (SSD) of St. Louis County Governing Council from 2021-2025. Furthermore, I gained the opportunity to serve all of St. Louis County by being appointed as a board member on the St. Louis County Public Transportation Comission in 2024.

With all of this being said, I would be remissed if I did not talk about the thing I am most passionate about. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I am most proud of being a True Son Mizzou grad. While I love supporting the Tigers at Faurot Field with my grandpa, I am most grateful for the opportunity to be able to return to my alma mater to serve on Advisory Board of the Truman School of Government and Public Affairs so I can help students who want to have a future in government or non-profits succeed. Fight Tiger.
